Contest Information for Students

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Registration check-in is planned for 8:00am-9:15am. Students coming after scheduled registration hours will still need to pick up their student registration packets. All members of a group project should pick up their packets on the contest day.
  • Exhibits must be set up by 9:00am.
  • Exhibit category students who need electricity are strongly encouraged to bring an extension cord. Some extension cords are available on-site but not guaranteed that there will be enough.
  • Documentary category students should bring multiple copies of their documentary on a flash drive and/or on a DVD. Students cannot use Apple Airdrop to share their documentary to the screens on campus, as the University does not support this technology. It is safest to go with saving the documentary in multiple places (i.e. flash drive, Google Drive, DVD, laptop, etc.). Do not upload your documentary to YouTube. Sometimes, YouTube will take down videos that are suspected of copyright infringement.
  • Judging is scheduled to take place from approximately 9:30am-2:15pm.
  • Students will present their National History Day (NHD) entries to judges who will interview them about their projects.
  • If it is a group project, at least one student from the group must be present.
  • Depending on entry numbers, some categories may require a second round of judging. These will be announced on the contest day.
    • For 2024, a second round of judging will occur for Junior Group and Individual Exhibits. Students will not know if their exhibit has made it to the second round of judging, so exhibits will need to stay in place until after the awards ceremony. There will be no interviews during the second round.

Parking & Campus Directions

For parking, it is best to use the Campus Court lot (Visitor's Lot). For overflow parking, use the Kress Events Center lot.

To unload Exhibits and large Performance props, use the circle drive just off of the Campus Court lot.

Vehicles should be moved from the circle drive immediately after unloading. Not doing so may result in a ticket. Do not block the fire lane near Mary Ann Cofrin Hall.
