Integrating Library Resources into Canvas

Select the database/provider you are using from the navigation menu. If you do not see an example for the database that you need to use listed here, contact the library for assistance.

Do not copy and paste the URL in your browser's web address bar unless directed to do so in the information presented on this page.

To allow off-campus users to view content, most links will require the UW-Green Bay Libraries proxy server URL as part of the link you send to students. The information for each of the databases/providers explains how to do this.

Linking to Ebook Central

For books from ProQuest Ebook Central:

  1. Find the citation to the article you want to include in your Canvas course.
  2. Click on Share Link to Book on the left-side menu.
    Click on Share Link to Book

  3. Copy and paste the Share Link URL into your Canvas course. This link will direct students to the book from on and off-campus.

Linking to an EBSCO eBook

For books from the EBSCO eBook Collection:

  1. Find the Detailed Record page for the book you want to include in your Canvas course.
  2. Click on Permalink on the right-side menu.

  3. Copy and paste the Permalink URL into your Canvas course. This link will direct students to the book from on and off-campus.

Linking to a PsycNET (APA) E-book

For PsycNET:

  1. On the record page for the book, locate the DOI URL.
  2. Copy the URL or shortcut for the DOI. For example: http://dx.doi.org/10.1037/14801-000
  3. Add the UW-Green Bay Libraries proxy server URL to the front of the PsycNET DOI URL:

    https://ezproxy.uwgb.edu:2443/login?url= + PsycNET DOI URL =
    https://ezproxy.uwgb.edu:2443/login?url=http://dx.doi.org/10.1037/14801-000

  4. Copy and paste this URL into your Canvas course. This will direct students to the book from on and off-campus.

Linking to a Brill E-book

For Brill E-book Collections:

  1. On the record page for the book, locate the DOI URL.
  2. Copy the URL or shortcut for the DOI. For example: https://doi.org/10.1163/ej.9789004171398.i-182

Linking to a Humanities E-book (ACLS)

For ACLS Humanities E-books:

  1. On the record page for the book you want to include in your Canvas course, copy the Citable Link.
  2. Add the UW-Green Bay Libraries proxy server URL to the front of the ACLS Humanities URL:

Linking to Very Short Introductions (Oxford)

For linking to Very Short Introductions E-book:

  1. On the record page for the book, locate the DOI number.
  2. Create a DOI URL. To do this, use the URL:  https://doi.org + DOI number. For example: https://doi.org/10.1163/ej.9789004171398.i-182 red box showing where DOI number is located on page
  3. Add the UW-Green Bay Libraries proxy server URL to the front of the Very Short Introductions DOI URL:

For linking Very Short Introductions by Book Chapter

  1. On the page for the book chapter, find the DOI URL for the chapter on the page. red box indicating where to find chapter DOI URL
