Video Games and Consoles Terms of Use

Consoles check out for 1 day to students and 3 days to faculty. They are reservable through our website for faculty that wish to use them in class.

Students – You can use the console in the library! The Switch works as a handheld device so you do not necessarily need a monitor. If you want to use a screen, any monitor with an HDMI cord will work with the Nintendo Switch. We request that you use a screen on the 3rd floor, preferably in the Breakthrough Studio (the glassed-in area on 3rd floor). Room 307 in the Breakthrough Studio is a particularly good spot, especially if you are playing with a group.

The console is set up and ready to use with a blank user. You can create a new user or use the one that is already set up.

Your save and/or user on the console will be deleted when the console is returned to assure that we have room for other players.

We currently have a small selection of games in physical format that are being taught in classes. The cases are on the shelf, but the games themselves will need to be checked out at the desk. You can bring your own games to play on the console if you wish.

If there are other games or consoles you are interested in, please let us know. We may or may not be able to get them, but it helps us to know that there is interest.

If you are a faculty member, are interested in teaching games in a class, and we don’t have the game or console you are looking for, please contact Erica Grunseth (grunsete@uwgb.edu) with the title and/or console. Due to licensing restrictions, we can only purchase games in physical format at this time. If the game you are interested in is download only, we will not be able to purchase it.

Reservation Terms of Use

Equipment reservation terms of use – Cofrin Library, Green Bay Campus ONLY

We allow reservations for the faculty Nintendo Switch through LibCal. Equipment is for current UWGB faculty, staff and student use only. Reservations will be mediated by library staff.

Reservations can be made up to 14 days in advance.

All patrons will be charged overdue fines at $5 per day per item for reserved items. This fine accrues at opening the next open day after the item is due. For example: an item due on May 14 will have a $5 charge at library open on May 15. Overdue fines are non-refundable.

Reservations are not guaranteed. If an item is not returned in time for your reservation, the library will attempt to fill your reservation with the closest equivalent available item. Repeated late returns will prohibit you from being able to reserve items in the future, as determined by library staff.
