CUWL CDC Diversity Audit Guidelines

Equity, Anti-Racism, and Inclusive Practices

The awards lists and guides listed above are likely to include material in this category. Libraries may consider seeking out authors who are recipients of awards dedicated to social justice or anti-racist scholarship; two examples include:

  1. American Sociological Association’s Oliver Cromwell Cox Book Award for Anti-Racist Scholarship

  1. American Educational Research Association (AERA) Social Justice in Education Award

Libraries may also consider selecting titles associated with subject headings like “Anti-Racism” and “Social Justice.”

In many disciplines, inclusive practices are a strong element of the professional literature. Doody’s Review Service has developed a title list related to “health equity,” and publishers like Teachers College Press frequently issue titles on topics related to equity and justice in educational settings.
