This guide will help you find children's and young adult books for your assignments in EDUC 206. The APA Citation tab will assist you to properly cite your sources.

Tips for locating children's and young adult books which depict various cultures/ethnicities:
a) try an Advanced Search in Search@UW
b) search the Subject field like this: "young adult" OR juvenile (quotations and word OR just as shown)
AND
c) search the Subject field in another row with the word or words for the culture/ethnicity you're interested in
d) after getting search results, set your Filters on the left side (Refine My Results):
i) limit to Resource Type > Books
ii) select a Genre option if you wish
Here is a sample search on the topic "Native American," limited to Books, and Genre: Juvenile Literature (you can use this search and change your topic and filters as you wish)
For more efficient searching:
Quotation marks around a phrase will insure the keywords are searched as a phrase, e.g. "indians of north america."
An asterisk expands a search term to include all forms of word, e.g., teach* = teacher, teaching, teachable, etc.
You could also search this database for book recommendations, then look for the book title in Search@UW to see if it is available to borrow.
