Creative Commons Licenses & Open Educational Resources

Creative Commons is a non-profit organization that provides free copyright licenses that are simple to understand and easy to use, allowing creators to share their work with others.

Copyright laws are regulations that apply to the duplication and distribution of original works. Creative Commons licenses, which work in conjunction with a nation's copyright laws, are applied when creators want to extend certain rights to others. The guide below will help describe each as well as public domain licenses.

Choosing a Creative Commons License Workshop

The following materials were created by Kate Farley and Kristopher Purzycki as a collaborative project to satisfy a requirement for completion of the Creative Commons Certification. Instructional materials include the handout above, a slide deck, an interactive story built using Twine, and an activity for which participants choose and apply a license for their own work.
