In-Class Activities

Part 1: Evaluate a Source

Directions

Each source above is related to the topic of climate change. You have been assigned a source. Skim through your source and write down on paper at least 3 reasons why or why not you think the sources is quality and appropriate to use for college research. Be prepared to share what you wrote down with the class.

Part 2 : Read Laterally To Evaluate Your Source

When you read laterally, you go outside of a source to evaluate its credibility. Do a Google search to find out information about your source. Try to find information about:

  •  the creator or author of the content
  • publisher of the source (publication or website name)
  • Are you finding other websites agree or disagree with your source? Are they reputable sources themselves?
