Find an article by topic

  1. Enter keywords on the topic you are interested in. On the search results page, choose Articles (or other appropriate type) under Resource Type to eliminate unwanted material types. Choose Newspaper Search if you know you only want to see newspaper articles.

  2. If you are looking for scholarly or peer-reviewed articles, select the Peer-reviewed Journals option to limit your search results.

  3. Select the title of an article, then scroll down or select Details to read the abstract and additional information.

Find a specific article

  1. Search with the identifying information you have about the article, particularly the DOI or title and author. You may also want to try the journal title.

  2. Select the title of the article in the results list, then scroll down or select Details to verify that you found the right one.

  3. If your article doesn't appear at the top of the list, try selecting Articles or Newspapers search under Resource Type.

  4. If you still don't see the article, select the checkbox for Add results that require delivery time. This will include articles that we don't have immediate access to, but you can request them at no charge.

View the full text of an article

By default, most articles in Search@UW are available for you to immediately view online.

  1. Some articles will have the option to view them instantly from the results page. Select Download PDF if it is available.

  2. Otherwise, select the title of the article or Online Access to find the full-text options.

  3. Look under the View Online heading, and select the first link that begins with View now. If prompted, sign in with your UWGB username and password. After being redirected to the database, look for PDF, full text, or HTML options to view the full article.

  4. If the first link under View Online doesn't work, try the next one or ask a librarian for assistance.

Request an article

Sometimes you may not be able to find the articles you need within UWGB's online collection. You can expand your search to include articles that you can request via interlibrary loan, at no cost to you.

  1. On the search results page, select Add results that require delivery time.

  2. Articles that are not immediately available will have Request this item below the publication information. Select that link or the title of the article.

  3. Click on Request a PDF (1-3 days). You may be prompted to enter your UWGB username and password.

  4. Scroll down and click the Submit Request button on the auto-populated form.

  5. You will receive an email when the article is available for you to download. Article requests generally arrive within 1-3 business days, though they may take longer or shorter than that.
