What is Search@UW?

Find a book by topic

Enter keywords on the topic you are interested in. For more hints, see the Search@UW Tips tab.

On the results list screen, change the Everything drop-down to UWGB Books, media & more for items available at UWGB or UW Libraries Books, media & more to include items that can be sent from other libraries in the UW system.

If you want, limit to Books under Resource Type to eliminate Audio Visual and other material types.

Click on the title of the book, then click on Details to learn more about it.

Find a specific book

Enter as much identifying information as you have about the book (for example: title, author, ISBN)

Click on the title of the book, then on Details to verify that you found the right one.

If your book doesn't appear at the top of the list, try limiting the Resource Type to Books.

If it still doesn't show up, Ask a Librarian for help or check:

View an Ebook

Ebooks will show Online Access instead of a shelf location and call number. Click on it to find the full-text options.

Or click on the title to learn more about the book. Then click on View It to jump to full-text options.

Follow the link after Full text available at. If prompted, sign in with your UWGB user name and password.

Locate a book by call number

The location of a book can be found below the authors' names on the results list.

Or by clicking on the title and then on Get It.

The first part of the location tells you where in the library to look for the book.

The second part (Call Number) tells you where on the shelf to find the book.

Read one part of the call number at a time.

Example: TK5205.878 .F53 2016

TK Read alphabetically
5205 Read as a whole number
.878 Read as a decimal
.F53 Read alphabetically, then as a decimal
2016 Read as a year

Shelves are labeled to help you find the right row.
