ILL requests go through various status changes before they are delivered electronically or physically to your local branch library. Below are the definitions for some ILLiad statuses.
Current UW-Green Bay students, staff, faculty, and emeritus faculty may use the interlibrary loan (ILL) service for free. Community patrons can usually place ILL requests for free through their local public library.
Most materials are available for free to UW-Green Bay students, staff, faculty, and emeritus faculty. However, please be aware that there are costs associated for many requests that your local library covers (postage, etc.). If there would be a charge for an item, you will be contacted about the fee (usually $10-$30) and asked for approval before the request is placed.
ILL requests can be placed for many types of items, including articles, book chapters, books, CDs and DVDs. However, some items can be more difficult to get than others, including, textbooks, conference proceeding papers, dissertations, major motion pictures, best sellers, and study guide/test preparation manuals. Additionally, archival material, rare books, reference works, entire issues of periodicals and e-books are usually not available through ILL.
The following information will help for faster processing:

There are no limits to the number of requests or items you can check out. However, if numerous quantities of requests are received at the same time, it may slow down processing time.
Log into your Interlibrary Loan (ILLiad) account. You can click on the blue transaction number link to see details about your request. In the bottom Tracking section, you can see different statuses. A list of common status definitions is located in the ILLiad Status section of this guide.
Generally, article requests are filled within 1-3 business days and physical item (book, DVD, etc.) requests are filled within 5-8 business days. Many factors can change processing time, including, the popularity and availability of an item, and from where it is being shipped.
An email will be sent to your campus email account.
These items should be picked up within 10 days, otherwise they will be sent back to the lending library.
Articles, book chapters, and other items received electronically, will be available in your ILLiad account. Log into your account and access the item by clicking on the electronically received articles link. Electronic items will remain in ILLiad for 30 days only.
Physical items, such as books, CDs, and DVDs can be picked up at your local library's main circulation desk.
To check out physical ILL items, bring a photo ID, such as your UW-Green Bay ID or driver's license, to your local library's main circulation desk.
You can return physical ILL items directly to your local library's circulation desk or book drops. Electronic materials do not need to be returned, but will remain in ILLiad for 30 days only.
Loan periods are set by the lending library. General guidelines are listed below:
Usually, yes. Lending libraries normally allow one renewal for an additional 2-4 weeks. You must request a renewal prior to the item due date or it will be denied by the lending library. Request renewals using your ILLiad account.
Lost or damaged items are subject to replacement and other applicable fees levied by the lending library. Any charges will be added onto your library account. For students, the charges will transfer to your SIS account. If you return the item after your account was charged, you will not receive a refund as most libraries will not issue reimbursements.
