This page is meant to provide you with a list of journals in the fields of American Indian Studies, Native American Studies, Indigenous Studies, American Indian Education, and Indigenous Languages that you might consider publishing your own research in. This is not a comprehensive list, but will hopefully serve as a good starting point.

Ethnomusicology Forum
Publishes scholarly essays on all kinds of music from an ethnomusicological perspective.
Latin American Indian Literatures Journal
Publishes articles on Latin American Indian Literatures and other topics relating to indigenous art, archaeology, music, etc.
MELUS
Features articles, interviews and reviews encompassing the multi-ethnic scope of American literature past and present.
Studies in American Indian Literatures
Focuses on American Indian literatures such as poetry and short fiction, bibliographical essays, review essays, and interviews.

Journal of Aboriginal Economic Development
The Journal of Aboriginal Economic Development (JAED) is a peer-reviewed journal for practitioners and scholars working and researching in areas relevant to Aboriginal economic development. Published yearly, the Journal is a unique resource for anyone interested in Aboriginal community economic development. Its intent is to explore ideas and build knowledge in the field of Aboriginal economic development theory and practice. The journal prefers a broad interpretation of research and knowledge and encourages a wide variety of contributions in this area.

American Indian and Alaska Native Mental Health Research
Contains empirical research, program evaluations, case studies, unpublished dissertations, and other articles in the behavioral, social, and health sciences which clearly relate to the mental health status of American Indians and Alaska Natives.
International Journal of Indigenous Health
Shares Indigenous health research and practice from across disciplines, indigenous communities, and countries.
Native Social Work Journal
Published by the School of Native Human Services - Native Social Work Journal, Laurentian University, Sudbury, Ontario.

American Indian Culture and Research Journal
In print since 1971, the American Indian Culture and Research Journal (AICRJ) is an internationally renowned multidisciplinary journal designed for scholars and the general public. The premier journal in Native American studies, it publishes book reviews, literature, and original scholarly papers on a wide range of issues in the fields of history, anthropology, geography, sociology, political science, health, literature, law, education, and the arts. It is published by the American Indian Studies Center at the University of California, Los Angeles.
American Indian Quarterly
Brings out work that contributes to the development of American Indian studies as a field and to the sovereignty and continuance of American Indian nations and cultures.
Canadian Journal of Native Education
The Canadian Journal of Native Studies is a highly recognized journal in the field of Native Studies. It began as a publication of the Society for the Advancement of Native Studies which is no longer in operation. As a general focus, the journal publishes anthropological, historical, sociological, political, legal, education and cultural issues affecting First Nations people. Although the majority of articles deal with Indigenous peoples in Canada, it also publishes articles dealing with Indigenous peoples world-wide.
Decolonization: Indigeneity, Education & Society
This journal solicits any work purposefully engaged in the decolonization process, regardless of discipline or field, encouraging work that actively seeks undisciplinary connections that work both against and beyond the Western academy. Areas of interest include but are not limited to studies in: area studies such as African, Black, Asian and Latin American studies; art; anthropology; ecology; education; ethnic studies; history; Indigenous studies; literature; media studies; social work; and sociology.
Demography
Demography presents the highest quality original research of scholars in a broad range of disciplines, including anthropology, biology, economics, geography, history, psychology, public health, sociology, and statistics. The journal encompasses a wide variety of methodological approaches to population research.
Ethnic and Racial Studies
Ethnic and Racial Studies aims to be the leading journal for the analysis of the role of race, racism, ethnicity, migration and forms of ethno-nationalism. We seek to provide an interdisciplinary academic forum for the presentation of research and theoretical analysis, drawing particularly on sociology, social policy, anthropology, political science, international relations, geography, history, social psychology and cultural studies.

Brings out work from the disciplines of geography, literature, sociology, and archaeology, as well as anthropology and history.
Indigenous Nations Journal
An interdisciplinary publication juried by its peers, the Journal is geared toward those who have an interest in issues facing indigenous people. Its circulation is not entirely academic, although it is read by students, professors, and Indigenous and Native American studies programs throughout the U.S. and Canada. The Journal has published contributions that fall within the scope of Indigenous Peoples, communities, and issues in history, law, cultural studies, literature, and language.

Covers American literature, history, institutions, politics, economics, film, popular culture, and geography and related subjects.
Journal of Contemporary Ethnography: a journal of ethnographic research
Takes an interdisciplinary approach to ethnography and qualitative research. Features articles by distinguished scholars and professionals from a variety of disciplines concerned with the study of human nature, behavior, organization and culture.
Journal of Indigenous Research.
The Journal of Indigenous Research is designed to provide research data in a way that is understandable to the average person and will also specifically indicate an application of the material presented. These 1000-1500 word articles will be written in non-technical language, state some outcome of the research, explain the importance of the outcome for Indian people, and will be from the areas of the environment, public health, psychology, general health or education.
Native American and Indigenous Studies Association Journal
NAIS publishes the best interdisciplinary scholarship in international Native American and Indigenous Studies. The journal provides an intellectually rigorous and ethically engaged forum for smart, provocative, and exciting scholarship while drawing on the extraordinary professional expertise of our ever-expanding membership in a process of double-anonymous peer review. NAIS provides a forum to place different kinds of research, intellectual traditions, and knowledge practices in conversation.
Storytelling, Self, Society: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Storytelling Studies
Storytelling, Self, Society is an interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed journal that publishes scholarship on a wide variety of topics related to oral narrative in performance, as social or cultural discourse, and in a variety of professional and disciplinary contexts.
Études Inuit Studies
Études Inuit Studies is devoted to the study of Inuit societies, either traditional or contemporary, in the general perspective of social sciences and humanities (ethnology, politics, archaeology, linguistics, history, etc.). The Journal has grown to become a major crossroad of information on northern endeavors.

Journal of American Ethnic History
Addresses various aspects of American immigration and ethnic history, including background of emigration, ethnic and racial groups.
The Journal of American History
Focuses on various topics in the history of the United States.
Journal of California and Great Basin Anthropology
Malki Museum Press has published the Journal of California and Great Basin Anthropology since 1979 in cooperation with the Department of Anthropology at San Diego State University. It is the only journal representing California anthropology, and features articles from all four areas of anthropology including: Linguistic, Biological, Cultural/Ethnographic, and Archaeological. The Journal is a bi-annual periodical, printed usually around June and December. The Journal is read by scholars and can found in libraries around the globe.

Focuses on the history and culture of the early United States.
Latin American Indian Literatures Journal
Publishes articles on Latin American Indian Literatures and other topics relating to indigenous art, archaeology, music, etc.
Native South
Focuses on the investigation of Southeastern Indian history with the goals of encouraging study and exposing the influences of Indian people on the wider South.
The Oral History Review
Explores the authentication of human experience and research findings in oral history, including a wide range of social backgrounds, cultures and nationalities.
Wicazo Sa Review: a journal of native American studies
During the past two decades, has emerged as a central arena in which Native American populations in the United States define the cultural, religious, legal, and historical parameters of scholarship and creativity essential for survival in the modern world.

American Indian Law Review
Contains articles, student notes and federal developments on American Indian law and education.
Canadian Native Law Reporter
Comprehensive coverage and full text reporting of Canadian native law judgments.
Indigenous Law Journal
Dedicated to developing dialogue and scholarship in the field of Indigenous legal issues both in Canada and internationally. Publishes articles, notes, case comments, and reviews grounded in all areas of study pertaining to both the laws of indigenous peoples and the law as it affects indigenous peoples.
International Indigenous Policy Journal
IIPJ is a peer-reviewed, policy-relevant research journal addressing issues pertaining to Indigenous Peoples throughout the world.
NARF Legal Review
The NARF Legal Review is published semi-annually and provides updates on NARF’s cases and information on other timely Indian law topics.
Tribal Law Journal
Provides a forum for the discussion of indigenous, tribal and aboriginal law and legal systems from all over the globe.
Wicazo Sa Review: a journal of native American studies
During the past two decades, has emerged as a central arena in which Native American populations in the United States define the cultural, religious, legal, and historical parameters of scholarship and creativity essential for survival in the modern world.

First Peoples Child & Family Review
Peer-reviewed journal honouring the voices and perspectives of First peoples and non-Indigenous allies and supporters. Our mission is to promote research, critical analysis, stories, standpoints, and educational resources which advance innovation within child, family, and community based-matters for First Nations, Métis, and Inuit, as well as Indigenous peoples abroad.
Journal of American Indian Education
Features papers directly related to the education of North American Indians and Alaska Natives, with an emphasis on basic and applied research.

International Journal of American Linguistics
The International Journal of American Linguistics (IJAL) is dedicated to the documentation and analysis of the indigenous languages of the Americas. Founded by Franz Boas and Pliny Earle Goddard in 1917, the journal focuses on the linguistics of American Indigenous languages. IJAL is an important repository for research based on field work and archival materials on the languages of North and South America.
Language
Language, a journal of the Linguistic Society of America, is published quarterly and contains articles, short reports, and book reviews on all aspects of linguistics, focusing on the area of theoretical linguistics.
The Oral History Review
Explores the authentication of human experience and research findings in oral history, including a wide range of social backgrounds, cultures and nationalities.
Oshkaabewis Native Journal
Published since 1979, the Oshkaabewis Native Journal has served as an interdisciplinary forum for significant contributions to knowledge about the Ojibwe language. Contributions included monolingual and bilingual Ojibwe stories in the double vowel orthography, scholarly articles and reviews of Ojibwe language material.
Storytelling, Self, Society: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Storytelling Studies
Storytelling, Self, Society is an interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed journal that publishes scholarship on a wide variety of topics related to oral narrative in performance, as social or cultural discourse, and in a variety of professional and disciplinary contexts.
Tlalocan: revista de fuentes para el conocimiento de las culturas indígenas de México
Magazine specialized in the documentation of sources and texts of oral tradition in indigenous languages of Mexico, in addition to languages of Guatemala and the southwestern United States that are linguistically related, in addition to having a diverse history and tradition as it is a magazine published since 1943 physically, it is currently also published electronically.
