Women's Rights: Then & Now
Women's History Month

March is Women's History Month in the United States. In the 1960s and 1970s as the second wave of the women's movement took force, more emphasis was placed on women in history. In 1981, Congress declared Women's History Week in March. In 1987, it was expanded to the whole month. The theme for 2013 is: Women Inspiring Innovation Through Imagination: Celebrating Women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
